Usa election

2016

Written by Alessio Ceresa, Andrea Bergamaschi, Francesco Alinti

The official candidacy of Hillary Clinton had put in difficult the democratic world, when few people had the courage to challenge it. And from those who found the strength to go against her, two have already given up: Lincoln Chafee and Jim Webb. Because of bad polls they have decided to give up the shot before the primaries in Iowa. So far, from the candidates who have come forward, only one managed to assert himself: the " radical " Bernie Sanders. In short, Bernie Sanders at the moment seems the only opponent able to stand up to Hillary Clinton, and there are many who argue that his name may call to the vote because many young people are attracted by its very liberal positions. On the other hand, it is also true that for the same reasons many fear that his positions can subsequently penalize the Democratic against the Republicans.

The first democratic candidate for the president election campaign is Hilary Clinton who has   the ambition to have an America "more inclusive" and "right."

Clinton wants to draw new economic policies to help the "middle class" that according to the polls is disappearing. She would like a prosperous America. Hilary insists: "We must open the system to all schools to help families."

One focal point of its election campaign is that she wants a new idea of the colleges

For her college plan the costs will not be a barrier and the debt will not hold students back.

These are the points of her New College Compact:

•        Students should never have to borrow money to pay for tuition, books, and fees to attend a four-year public college in their state.

•        Students will do their part by contributing their earnings from working 10 hours a week.

•        The federal government will make a major investment in the New College Compact by providing grants to states that commit to these goals, and by cutting interest rates on loans.

Under Hillary’s plan, if a student has a debt, he will be able to refinance loans at current rates. For example, an estimated 25 million borrowers will receive debt relief, and the typical borrower could save $2,000 over the life of his or her loans.

Another focal point of her election campaign is the women’s rights.

This is the situation in the moment America has taken tremendous strides when it comes to expanding opportunity for women. Women still earn less than men on the job. Many women still face barriers to entering and advancing in the workforce, and the ability of women to make their own health decisions is under assault.

When Hilary become President the woman’s right will exchange positively.

MAKE TUITION FREE AT PUBLIC COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES:

  • STOP THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT FROM MAKING A PROFIT ON STUDENT LOANS

Over the next decade, it has been estimated that the federal government will make a profit of over $110 billion on student loan programs. According to them this is morally wrong and it is bad economics. As President, Sen. Sanders will prevent the federal government from profiteering on the backs of college students and use this money to significantly lower student loan interest rates.

  • SUBSTANTIALLY CUT STUDENT LOAN INTEREST RATES

Under the Sanders plan, the formula for setting student loan interest rates would go back to where it was in 2006. If this plan were actual today, interest rates on undergraduate loans would drop from 4.29% to just 2.37%.

  •  ALLOW AMERICANS TO REFINANCE STUDENT LOANS AT TODAY’S LOW INTEREST RATES

Under the Sanders plan, Americans would be able to refinance their student loans at today’s low interest rates. According to him it makes no sense that you can get an auto loan today with an interest rate of 2.5%, but millions of college graduates are forced to pay interest rates of 5-7% or more for decades.

  •  ALLOW STUDENTS TO USE NEED-BASED FINANCIAL AID AND WORK STUDY PROGRAMS TO MAKE COLLEGE DEBT FREE

The Sanders plan would require public colleges and universities to meet 100% of the financial needs of the lowest-income students. Low-income students would be able to use federal, state and college financial aid to cover room and board, books and living expenses. And Sanders would more than triple the federal work study program to build valuable career experience that will help them after they graduate.

  • FULLY PAID FOR BY IMPOSING A TAX ON WALL STREET SPECULATORS

The cost of this plan is fully paid by imposing a tax of a fraction of a percent on Wall Street speculators. More than 1,000 economists have endorsed a tax on Wall Street speculation and today some 40 countries throughout the world have imposed a similar tax including Britain, Germany, France, Switzerland, and China. “If the taxpayers of this country could bailout Wall Street in 2008, we can make public colleges and universities tuition free and debt free throughout the country.”

Fighting for Women’s Rights is the other focal point of Bernie Sanders campaign

Despite major advances in civil and political rights, our country still has a long way to go in addressing the issue of gender inequality. Many of the achievements that have been made for women’s rights in the 20th century have been under attack by the Republican party, denying women control over their own bodies, preventing access to vital medical and social services, and blocking equal pay for equal work.

BERNIE SANDERS WILL:

  •  FIGHT FOR PAY EQUITY FOR WOMEN

He thinks that it is a national disgrace that women only earn 78 cents for every dollar a man earns. The gender pay gap is even worse for black women. Today, African American women earn just 64 cents for every dollar a white male earns, while the figure for Hispanic women is just 54 cents. As president, Sen. Sanders will sign the Paycheck Fairness Act into law to end wage discrimination based on gender.

EXPAND AND PROTECT THE REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS OF WOMEN

Sen. Sanders has consistently fought against Republican attacks on the fundamental rights of women to control their own bodies. As president, Sen. Sanders would expand, not cut, funding for Planned Parenthood, the Title X family planning program, and other initiatives that protect women’s health, access to contraception, and the availability of a safe and legal abortion.

  • ONLY NOMINATE SUPREME COURT JUSTICES WHO SUPPORT ROE V. WADE AND THE REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS OF WOMEN

As president, Sen. Sanders will only nominate Supreme Court justices who recognize the rights of women to have access to family planning services.

  • MAKE QUALITY CHILDCARE AND PRE-K AVAILABLE TO ALL AMERICANS

Sen. Sanders is working on a plan to make high-quality childcare and Pre-K available to every American, regardless of income. He thinks that it is unacceptable that the cost of a quality childcare program is out of reach for millions of Americans.

  • INCREASE THE MINIMUM WAGE TO $15 AN HOUR BY 2020

According to the most recent statistics, women make up two-thirds of all minimum wage workers. Increasing the minimum wage to $15 an hour would significantly boost the wages of more than 15 million women and help close the gender wage gap.
